Africa is slowly but surely moving towards continental integration. Over the past few decades sub regional institutions in west north, east and southern Africa respectively - have been active in encouraging crops border economic activities among member states and some, such as the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, already now have sub regional parliaments.

The biggest step so far towards expanding the scope of integration from the various sub regions to full continental integration is the establishment of the African Continental Free Area, the most populous single market in the world.

Improved public service and delivery of public goods are imperatives for sovereign jurisdictions all across Africa as is closer cooperation between public institutions who show the capacity to lead Africa’s pan continental ongoing socio-economic renaissance.

The 3RD Edition of APSO Awards(2024) therefore sets out to identify from all around Africa a carefully selected group of socio-economic public institutions, both national and supra-national as well public servants whether elected or appointed that have set the highest standards in the delivery of public goods and services. Not only do they deserve to be formally recognized, their awards will spur greater efforts by other public institutions and servants all around Africa who desire similar international recognition and acclaim. Furthermore, the awards scheme, in bringing the most outstanding public institutions enterprises and their leaders together, holds an excellent platform for the establishment of strong co-operation between these extraordinarily competent institutions/enterprises at both the bilateral and multilateral basis, while also facilitating working relationships between the most exemplary public officials continent-wide. Thus our award scheme will create a channel through which the best public institutions, agencies and enterprises can learn from each other even as their contemporaries lean from all our awardees how raise their own respective conduct, performance and impact to the highest levels as exhibited by our award winners.
